DIY 2,4 GHz spectrum analyzer

analyseur de spectreThis austere website helps you to make a your very own 2,4 GHz spectrum analyzer.

What in the world is this electronic device for ? It finds the best channel for your Wi-Fi (802.11b) network of course !

Between the micro-wave ovens, video transmitters, DECT phones and other wireless gadgets all using the same frequencies as Wi-Fi, it is often useful to know which frequency is best to use. Our Wi-Fi software can only detect Wi-Fi signals, ignoring all the other noise.

With a spectrum analyzer, you can see which frequencies are available, and tell your Wi-Fi hardware to use the corresponding channel !

While waiting for more intelligent technologies capable of dynamically choosing a channel depending on the interferences, it is best to opt for the analyzer solution if your network encounters slow transfers or loss of data.
